Up and running in under a minute
Four quick steps and you're set. All permissions are one-time only.
Download and unzip
After purchasing on Gumroad, download the ChatSweep.zip file and double-click it to unzip. Drag ChatSweep.app into your Applications folder.
Open ChatSweep for the first time
Double-click ChatSweep in your Applications folder. macOS will show a security warning saying it "can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software." This is normal for indie apps not distributed through the App Store. Click OK to dismiss this dialog.
Allow in Privacy & Security
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security. Scroll down and you will see a message about ChatSweep being blocked. Click "Open Anyway" and confirm. ChatSweep will now launch and you will see the icon appear in your menu bar. You only need to do this once.
Grant Automation access
The first time you grab a conversation, macOS will ask you to allow ChatSweep to control your browser. Click OK to grant this permission. If you accidentally denied it, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Automation, find ChatSweep, and enable your browser.

No. ChatSweep runs 100% offline. It reads browser tabs using macOS Accessibility APIs and copies text to your local clipboard. No servers, no analytics, no data collection of any kind.
ChatSweep requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. It runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Three formats: Raw text (plain conversation), Markdown (with headers and formatting), and XML (structured with tags for each message). You can set your preferred default in the menu bar.
ChatSweep is not signed with an Apple Developer certificate, so macOS Gatekeeper blocks it on first launch. This is normal for indie apps. To fix it: open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click "Open Anyway" next to the ChatSweep message. You only need to do this once - after that it opens normally.
ChatSweep uses macOS Automation to ask your browser for the page content. This is the same system apps like Alfred and Raycast use. You grant it once, and it works across all supported browsers.
